NATURAL DYE WORKSHOPS

Passionate about creatives coming together through exploration and conversation about creating consciously,  Kesiena hosts community natural dye workshops. No prior knowledge on textiles or dyeing is required. Just inquisitive minds ready to engage with the living color that only natural dyestuffs provide.

This intro into natural dyeing includes bundle dyeing & painting with inks made from foraged flowers, minerals & food scraps from local NYC businesses. These items would otherwise be intended for the trash or compost, but instead we create vibrant color to dye natural materials. 

During the workshops Kesiena demonstrates traditional & creative dye techniques to make patterns, while participants will have abundant time to play and explore with surface design. An overview of leaders and innovators of modern day natural dye are also discussed. A resource list is provided for those interested in further learning about natural dyes. 

Through connecting curious minds with beautiful living color, responsible dye practices and experimenting with dye techniques that only natural dyes can create, participants gain an understanding of how to work with natural living color that you can find in your own kitchen.
